Analysis of the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Nantes
Paris Saint-Germain suffered a 1–2 home defeat to Lyon in Round 30 of Ligue 1, leaving them just one point ahead of Lens. However, Luis Enrique’s side still have one game in hand, making their rescheduled Round 26 clash against Nantes a must-win situation.
Overall, PSG still control their own destiny in the title race. That said, their pursuit of a fifth consecutive Ligue 1 title has not been smooth. The key now is to avoid a second straight home defeat—something that hasn’t happened since 2023.
Nantes, meanwhile, are not an easy opponent. In their last five meetings, PSG have won three and drawn two, but most victories were narrow, with only one win by a margin of two goals or more.
The challenge becomes even tougher as Nantes are fighting hard to avoid relegation. “Les Canaris” currently sit second from bottom with 20 points after 29 matches and must fight for every point. A run of six games without a win (3 draws, 3 losses) has kept them stuck in 17th place, and pulling off an upset against a highly motivated PSG will be difficult.
With just a one-point gap over Lens, PSG have no room for mistakes. A win against Nantes is essential if they want to maintain their advantage in the title race.
