Analysis of the match between Tottenham Hotspur and Borussia Dortmund
Tottenham are sinking deeper into a serious crisis of form. Their latest defeat to West Ham, a team from the lower group of the Premier League, has further exposed their problems. Across all competitions, Spurs have gone five consecutive matches without a win. As a result, the pressure on head coach Thomas Frank continues to mount. Looking at a broader picture, Tottenham have managed just one victory in their last eight matches, and notably, that win came at the end of 2025. This means the London club are still searching for their first victory of 2026.
At such a difficult moment, Tottenham must face an in-form Dortmund side. The Ruhr-based club recently secured a 3-2 win over St. Pauli, strengthening their hold on second place in the Bundesliga standings. Dortmund are currently on a seven-match unbeaten run and have suffered only one defeat in their last eight away games.
As for Tottenham, despite playing at home in this match, that advantage appears insignificant. Spurs have failed to win in four consecutive home games, with their last home victory dating back to December 10, 2025. Clearly, Thomas Frank’s position is under severe threat. He was expected to transform Tottenham, but instability continues to plague the team, much like last season.
Given Tottenham’s current situation, it is hard to believe they can produce a surprise against Dortmund. A victory for the German side on English soil would not be surprising and could push Thomas Frank even closer to losing his job.
